Introduced in 1998 this was Patek Philippe first complication in stainless steel and its pre dates the Nautilus Ref: 3712 by almost 7 years. It’s believed to have been produced for just 2 to 3 years and in very small numbers. Patek Philippe themselves advertised it as “ideal for sportswear and, at the same time, the perfect dress watch”.
The Cal. 240/164 automatic lever movement is stamped with the Geneva seal and has 29 jewels and a 22ct gold micro-rotor. The stunning black dial has Arabic numerals, a power reserve indicator, two subsidiary dials for constant seconds and date combined with moon phases. All housed in a steel tonneau-shaped case with glazed display screw back and screw down crown. The integral stainless steel Patek Philippe link bracelet just feels so tactile and is polished to perfection.
The watch comes with its original Certificate of Origin with a Patek Philippe code that reveals a build date of February 1998 (meaning this is one of the very first produced) and a sale date of the 16th December 1999. The watch is in truly excellent condition and has never been polished and was from the original owner. Offering rarity, condition and incredible value, this watch will be one to buy now for the future.
