A stunning 18ct gold Jaeger LeCoultre Perpetual Calendar wristwatch Ref: 140.2.80 Master Control 1000 Hours, in outstanding condition. Sold in 1997.

“Launched by Jaeger-Le Coultre in 1996, the ‘Master Control Perpetual Calendar’ Ref:140.2.80 was produced for just 8 years.  “

– Paul Maudsley

When launched this watch showcased the brand’s manufacturing skills in what is considered the ultimate grand complication wristwatch.

The 37mm diameter case is in a beautiful rose gold and at just 10mm in thickness this Master Control features a perpetual calendar that displays the day, date, month, a digital year indicator, as well as a moon phase.

The self-winding grand complication is powered by the intricate 889/440/2 calibre with 50 jewels and 22ct gold rotor. The 889 is a fine and durable calibre that served as a base movement for many complicated watches such as in Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin models. This example is presented in remarkable condition, having never been polished and coming from the original owners family. It is fitted with a leather Jaeger LeCoultre strap with 18ct gold Jaeger LeCoultre deployment clasp.

One of my favourite watches from the Maison and to be able to own a full perpetual calendar watch like this for under £10,000 is quite incredible.

£8,950.
